Our Staff
FrancesRay Jules in Boston, Massachusetts, is a professional salon offering high-quality services performed by amazing artists Ben Mitrano and Richard Burgess. The name of our salon comes from our founder's family. His father is Ray and his mother is Frances. We opened more than 15 years ago and in just five short years we had quadrupled in size. After the economy crashed we decided to downsize to get back out to our own roots.

Ben Mitrano, Owner and Creative Director, Master Colorist
Ben is the owner of FrancesRay Jules. He has over 15 years of experience as a stylist, including working at Judy Jetson Inc. in Cambridge, as a director of the Elizabeth Arden Salon at Saks Fifth Avenue, and a stylist at Man in the Moon Salon at Fanueil Hall. Growing up with five sisters, Ben was persistently exposed to the world of hair and makeup. Following his love for art, theatre, and fashion, a career in the ever-changing hair industry would be the perfect fit. While at Saks, he worked at most, if not all the runway fashion shows for the Fifth Avenue Club and many other fashion events, benefiting local and national charities.

Opening FrancesRay Jules
After opening FrancesRay Jules in 2001 and noticing its success, Ben decided to broaden his horizons and expand his Boston location, going from four styling stations to six, with the addition of a color bar, larger nail area, full skin care, waxing, massage, and body treatments, as well as backing the launch of our Jules Makeup line. Ben enjoys using his talents to help others. Past charity events he has helped support include Blessed Sacrament Youth Organization, the Gillette Foundation for Women's Health, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Heart Association, The Ellie Fund, and our ongoing relationship with Dress For Success.
Training
As owner and salon director, Ben takes pride in providing in-salon and outside education for his staff, having all stylists and assistants train with him before stylists have the opportunity to participate in innovative classes and outside training. This includes workshops at Wella International, Bio Ionic Straightening, Sebastian International, Sexy Hair Concepts, Aquage, American Crew, and many more.

Special Skills
Ben specializes in all aspects of styling, including precision cutting and color correction. He has a keen eye for detail and creates exquisite bridal up styles and exceptional formal wear hairstyles. He remains abreast of the current trends and techniques, striving to provide an ideal example for his staff. He recently joined the team of P& G/Wella National Educators. His work has been featured in the pages of the Boston Globe's Go Red Insert, Shut up Magazine, Platinum Weddings Magazine and recognized as a hidden gem in Modern Salon Magazine.

Richard Burgess, Owner, Stylist and Artistic Director
Richard has extensive experience in the makeup industry, having worked in many fast-paced retail environments. His talents are diverse, and he helps his clients achieve the look they want. Highlighting, construing, and accenting are just some of the many techniques Richard can perform.
Cosmetic Line
Richard is the brains behind Jules Makeup, a new line of cosmetics that provides fabulous new colors and a customized professional makeup application. He specializes in wedding photos, new license photos, and passport photos as well as black and white photos, or any other time you want to just look fabulous. He recently had the opportunity to work with national anthem performers Paula Cole, James Taylor, Keith Lockheart, and several members of the Boston Pops at the NBA Finals. Along with his work for the American Heart Association, The Ellie Fund, and Dress for Success, Rich and his staff enjoy donating time and services for a good cause. Richard's experiences include:

Hello, I am David and have been a stylist for over 37 years in the Boston area. I specialize in Men’s cuts and hair coloring! I enjoy giving short cuts on woman as well. Hello My Name is Amanda! A little about me, I’ve been in the industry for over 14 years and I absolutely LOVE everything about hair.
Techniques like foilaylage, balayage, are some of my favorite to name a few using subtle tones, loud colors to craft amazing looks. Enjoying the art of creative cutting, mini dustings (for those of you who do not like haircuts) extensions, keratin treatments and of course my favorite styling updos or that gorgeous blow- out with or with out curls. Fiona Grant
Always creative, Fiona entered the hair industry in her early twenties. It was a way to combine two of her favorite things: art and science. She instantly fell in love with the chemistry of color, The engineering of haircuts and structure of style. This analytical approach informs a delicate eye for balance, tone, shape, symmetry, and movement. Making her a creative colorist specializing in the fun wild world of fashion tones. Fiona originally trained in New Hampshire where she received her Cosmetology license. Fiona eventually found herself moving to the metro Boston area in 2017. She genuinely cares about every person she meets, and lives for joy in a client's face when they love how they look at the finish of their appointment. Come and visit Fiona and let her make your day.
